Kai Chen

Kai Chen is a senior GC/MS application scientist in the mass spectrometry division of Agilent Technologies, Inc. Since he joined in Agilent at the end of 2010 as a research scientist, Chen has been working on various techniques such as multidimensional gas chromatography and high resolution mass spectrometry. His recent interests focus on applying high resolution accurate mass GC/Q-TOF instruments for screening contaminants in food and environment.

Chen received his PhD degree in 2011 from the University of Newcastle, Australia. His PhD research on understanding the formation of harmful decomposition products from chemical fire was awarded the Best Thesis Award "Excellence in Research" by International Association for Fire Safety Science. From 1999 to 2006, Chen studied in Tongji University, China for his BSc and MSc degrees.
