ABSTRACT

Accurate detection and quantification of Legionella pneumophila in a water sample is critical to establishing and maintaining control strategies that support public health. Common challenges faced by laboratories in obtaining accurate and timely results will be discussed, including method options, materials considerations, reading of results, and their collective impact. Lessons learned during the development of a novel method that eliminates these barriers will be described.
