Stephen Long

Stephen Long holds a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from Imperial College, University of London and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. He currently works in the Material Measurement Laboratory of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, focusing on the development of primary measurement methods and assignment of values for trace elements in environmental, clinical and biological materials in support of the Standard Reference Materials program. Recently, he has been involved in the development of new innovative methods for the high-accuracy determination of mercury in challenging matrices including fossil fuels, and provision of NIST traceability support for coal-fired power station mercury emissions in collaboration with EPA. He has authored or co-authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications.
