Richard Jack

Richard is currently the North America Environmental Market Manager for the Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry Division at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. He works with regulatory agencies around the world to assist them in developing robust analytical methods that are eventually used for compliance monitoring. Richard facilitates development of new applications, instrumentation, column chemistries, and software that provide customers real solutions. Richard is an EPA Scientific Advisor for the EPA’s panel on Hydraulic Fracturing, a coauthor for EPA 557 and has drafted several ASTM methods. Previously Richard was a product manager for Dionex and Hitachi High Technologies where he designed analytical instrumentation, including IC and HPLC systems, pumps, autosamplers, and a variety of detectors. Richard received his PhD in biochemistry and anaerobic microbiology from Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, VA, where he was involved in vaccine development and later worked as an environmental scientist in bioremediation of toxic compounds in soils. He received his Masters in ecology from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN.
